Roof ventilation in Singapore

Solar Roof Ventilator Installation in Singapore

NexFix Engineering Pte Ltd installs solar roof ventilators on landed homes, shophouses, factories and warehouses. The fan runs on sunlight and pulls hot air out of your roof space before it sinks into the rooms below.

Our roof waterproofing team does the sealing, so your new ventilator does not become a new leak.

THE PROBLEM

Why Your Top Floor Stays Hot After Sunset

The sun hits your roof all day. Concrete tiles and metal sheets soak up that heat. The roof space under them traps it. Installers in Singapore report roof space temperatures of 50 to 60°C around 12 pm to 2 pm. Your ceiling then passes that heat to the room below.

You switch off the aircon at midnight. An hour later, the room feels warm again. Your ceiling fan only pushes that warm air around.

A fan inside the room treats the symptom. A roof ventilator removes heat at the source.

HOW IT WORKS

What a Solar Roof Ventilator Does, and What It Does Not

What it does

A small solar panel powers a brushless DC motor. The motor spins the blades, and the blades push hot air out of the roof space. Cooler air enters through eave, soffit or ceiling vents.

The fan spins faster in strong sun. We place it near the roof ridge, where hot air gathers. It needs no power from your DB box.

What it does not do

It does not cool a room like an aircon. It also cannot stop heat that radiates down through the roof surface and ceiling.

A 2021 study in Frontiers in Built Environment tested a roof with concrete tiles, an air cavity and solar powered fans. The attic ran 6°C cooler than under a standard roof.

Your result depends on roof type, insulation, roof colour and air intake. We check all four first. If a ventilator will not help your home, we tell you.

OUR PROCESS

How We Install Your Solar Roof Ventilator

1

Inspect

We check roof type, ridge line, insulation and existing vents. We also look for old leaks.

2

Size and place

We match the unit to your roof space and keep it clear of future solar panel spots.

3

Check intake

The fan needs fresh air to replace what it removes. We check soffit and ceiling vents.

4

Cut and flash

We cut the opening and fit flashing made for your tile or metal roof.

5

Seal and waterproof

We seal the joints and waterproof the base of the unit.

6

Test

We run the fan in daylight, check the seal and listen for noise.

7

Hand over

We show you how to clean the panel and what to watch each year.

Leak worry

Will a Roof Ventilator Make My Roof Leak

Any hole in a roof can leak if the flashing is wrong or the sealant fails. Flat roofs carry a higher risk because water sits on them.

We treat every ventilator as a waterproofing job first. The same team that fixes roof leaks cuts the opening and seals it. If you already have a leak, we repair it before we add a ventilator.

What Decides the Price

We do not quote from a catalogue. Your price depends on these factors.

  • The number of units your roof space needs
  • Your roof type, which may be tile, metal or flat
  • The roof height and how safely we can reach it
  • Ducting from the unit to a room or staircase
  • Any waterproofing or repair your roof needs first

We inspect for free and send a written quote. You decide after you read it.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a solar roof ventilator really work?

It removes hot air from your roof space, so your ceiling passes less heat to the rooms below. It does not cool a room like an aircon. Your result depends on your roof type, insulation and air intake.

Will it make my roof leak?

Any hole in a roof can leak if the flashing or sealant fails. We match the flashing to your roof and waterproof the base of the unit. We inspect flat roofs first.

Does it work at night or when it rains?

The fan runs on daylight. It slows under cloud and stops at night. It helps most by keeping the roof space cooler through the day, so your ceiling stores less heat.

Can I install one on an HDB flat or condo?

The roof belongs to the block, so you need approval from your town council or management first. For a hot top floor flat, we can look at an exhaust fan or a ceiling fan upgrade instead.

Will a ventilator block my future solar panels?

Not if we plan for it. Tell us if you want rooftop solar later. We place the ventilator away from your panel layout.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the number of units, roof type, access height, ducting and any waterproofing your roof needs. We send a written quote after a free inspection.
