What is a solar roof ventilator?

A solar roof ventilator is a fan mounted on your roof and powered by a small solar panel. It pulls hot air from the top of your factory or warehouse and pushes it outside. Cooler air enters through your wall openings, doors, and louvres to take its place. Because the sun powers the fan, the unit runs hardest when your roof is hottest.

The heat problems we hear from factory owners

Singapore sun heats metal roofs all day. That heat sinks into your building and stays there. Most facility managers tell us the same six things.

Workers slow down

Hot floors cut focus and speed. Heat stress also raises safety risks, and MOM expects employers to manage it.

Stock spoils or warps

Heat damages packaging, adhesives, electronics, food ingredients, and chemicals stored under the roof.

Machines run hot

Motors, compressors, and control panels work harder in hot air. They wear out faster and fail more often.

Cooling bills climb

Air conditioning in a building full of roof heat burns power all day and still struggles to keep up.

Stale air builds up

Fumes, dust, and humidity stay inside when air has no exit path. Your team feels it in the afternoon.

Roof damage worry

Owners fear that a new roof opening will leak. A poor install does cause leaks, so the sealing work matters.

How a solar roof ventilator cools your building

The physics is simple. Hot air rises and collects under the roof. A ventilator gives that air a fast way out.

The solar panel makes power

A small photovoltaic panel turns sunlight into direct current. The fan motor needs no cable from your distribution board.

The fan removes hot air

The fan spins faster in strong sun. It extracts the hottest air from the roof space and releases it outside.

Fresh air flows in

Cooler air enters through low level openings. This creates steady airflow across the floor where people work.

Demand and output match

Roof heat peaks at midday. Solar output peaks at midday too. The fan works hardest when you need it most.

Good airflow needs a clear intake. A ventilator cannot pull air through a sealed building, so we check your wall openings and louvres during the survey.

Solar Roof Ventilator Installation Site

Where we install

We fit solar ventilators on the roof types common across Singapore industrial estates. These include metal deck factories, warehouses and logistics hubs, cold chain loading bays, workshops and fabrication plants, food and packaging plants, printing and electronics assembly sites, industrial canteens and dock areas, and multi tenant JTC units.

Our installation process

Every project follows the same five steps. You know what happens and when.

01

Site survey

Our engineer checks roof type, roof height, floor area, heat sources, and air intake points.

02

Sizing and quote

We calculate how many units you need and where they go. You get an itemised quote with no hidden extras.

03

Approvals

We review your lease and roof structure, then tell you which landlord or authority approvals apply.

04

Install and seal

We cut the opening, fit a curb and flashing, mount the unit, and waterproof every joint. Our waterproofing team handles the sealing, so the roof stays dry.

05

Test and handover

We run the fans, check airflow, and walk you through care and cleaning. Panels need only a periodic wipe.

Why factory owners choose NexFix Engineering

We treat a roof opening as an engineering job, not a quick fit.

Roof and waterproofing expertise

We repair and waterproof roofs every week. That experience shows in how we seal ventilator openings.

Honest sizing

We tell you how many fans you need, not how many we can sell. If your site needs a different solution, we say so.

Safe work at height

Our crew uses fall protection and follows your site safety rules during every roof job.

Clear quotes

You see the full price breakdown before work starts. We list unit, labour, and sealing work separately.

Minimal disruption

We plan roof work around your shifts so production keeps moving.

Workmanship warranty

We stand behind our installation and sealing work. Ask us for the warranty terms in your quote.

NexFix Engineering serves homes, condos, factories, and commercial sites islandwide.

Frequently asked questions

How much heat can a solar roof ventilator remove from a factory?

The ventilator pulls hot air from under the roof and replaces it with cooler outside air. Results depend on roof height, fan count, and air intake. We size the system after a site survey and give you a target air change rate before you commit.

Does it work on cloudy days or at night?

Output drops under heavy cloud and stops at night. Roof heat drops at those times too, so demand falls with supply. A hybrid model with grid backup runs the fan after dark if your site needs it.

Will a roof opening cause leaks?

Not when the installer seals it correctly. We fit a proper curb and flashing and waterproof the opening before the unit goes on.

Can solar ventilators replace air conditioning in a warehouse?

In most open warehouses, yes for general comfort and heat relief. Temperature controlled rooms still need cooling equipment. A ventilator lowers the load on that equipment by removing roof heat.

Do I need approval to install one in Singapore?

Many sites need landlord or JTC approval, and some need a structural check on the roof sheeting. We review your lease and roof type during the survey and tell you what to submit.

How often does the system need maintenance?

Wipe the solar panel and check the fan housing a few times a year. Dust and bird droppings reduce output, so dusty sites may need more frequent cleaning.
